DHAKA: Members of BNP Chief Khaleda’s lawyer panel went to meet her at the old prison at Nazimuddin Road in the capitals’ old part Saturday (February 10).

Advocate Abdur Rezzak Khan and Barrister Moudud Ahmed were seen among other lawyers before the entrance of the prison at around 2:40pm. 

“The cell where she has been kept is a solitary and abandoned one. She has been treated in the same manner applied for a death-row convict. It’s very saddening”, said Moudud.  

“As per the law, the imprisoned persons of some 18 categories are allowed to get division automatically.  No distinctive application required in this regard. But it’s regretful that Khaleda Zia wasn’t given the division since she was taken to the prison”, he added.

The lawyers told reporters that they are trying to meet Khaleda.

“We don’t know whether permission has been given or not. We will meet her for discussion. We’ll hear whether she had any instruction”, the BNP leader said further.

However, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was sent to jail on Thursday (February 8) after a special tribunal sentenced her to 5-year in prison in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
