Bangladesh beats Bhutan 3-0 to reach SAFF U-19 semis

Bangladesh secured a spot in the SAFF U-19 Championship semifinals with a dominant 3-0 victory over Bhutan in their second and final group-stage match at Golden Jubilee Stadium, Arunachal, India, on Sunday (May 11).

After drawing 2-2 against the Maldives in their opening match, Bangladesh needed a win to advance.

Bhutan started aggressively, with multiple early attempts on goal, but Bangladesh goalkeeper Ismail Hossain Mahin managed crucial saves.

In the 11th minute, Morshed Ali broke through the offside trap and curled a powerful left-footed shot into the net, giving Bangladesh the lead. Moments later, Suman Soren doubled the score after a defensive lapse, capitalizing on a pass from Morshed Ali.

Despite Bhutan’s efforts in the second half, Bangladesh’s defense remained solid. In the final moments, captain Nazmul Huda Faisal sealed the victory with a well-coordinated attack, making it 3-0.

Bangladesh now moves to the semifinals, looking to continue their strong performance in the tournament.
