Jewellers have raised the price of 22 carat gold by Tk1,155 to Tk1.39 lakh per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Wednesday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk11,955 per gram, and 21-carat Tk11,411 per gram, according to a press release signed by the committee Chairman Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk9,781 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk8,031 per gram. New tariffs would come into effect on Thursday, the release added.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18- carat Tk181, and traditional one is Tk136 per gram.
