The inflow of remittances reached $655 million (BDT 7,860cr) in the first nine days of November, according to data published by Bangladesh Bank.

The data published today (Nov 10), said on average Bangladesh daily received $72.78 million as remittances during the first nine days of November. 

The average daily remittance in October was higher, at $79.84 million. In November of last year, daily remittances averaged $64.35 million.

In October, total remittances were $2.395 billion, slightly lower than September’s $2.404 billion, indicating a slight month-on-month drop.

State-owned banks received $199.75 million in the first nine days of November, with Krishi Bank contributing $31.56 million. Private banks handled the largest portion of remittances at $421.94 million, while foreign banks brought in $1.75 million, the data said.

Among individual banks, Islami Bank recorded the highest remittance inflow at $109.19 million, making it the top contributor to remittances in this period.
