Three people were killed, and five others injured, when a truck collided with a stationary three-wheeler, locally known as Korimon, in Santhia upazila of Pabna early on Friday (Dec 27).
The victims were identified as Khokon Islam, 27, Dhoni Pramanik, 50, and Russel Ahmed, 27.
Follwoing the incident, the injured were rushed to Santhia Upazila Health Complex and other local hospitals for treatment.
Santhia police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Latif confirmed the matter.
According to Santhia police, the laborers were preparing to travel to another area for onion planting when the goods truck, bound for Santhia, crashed into the parked Korimon on the roadside, killing three on the spot.
The truck involved in the incident has been seized, but the driver and his assistant fled the scene. Legal action is underway, said Abdul Latif.
