Bus services on all routes in Rajshahi were suspended after an alleged attack on bus workers in Tanore upazila.

According to report, from Monday (Dec 16) afternoon, no buses were operating in the city. However, buses coming from other districts were allowed to return from Rajshahi.

Earlier in the morning, five bus workers were brutally attacked by CNG auto-rickshaw drivers in Tanore, leaving drivers Swapan Ali, Babur, Shaheen, Nuruzzaman, and conductor Zia injured. 

Following this incident, all inter-district bus services were halted in Rajshahi.

At around 1 PM, following the incident, Rajshahi motor worker leader Helal Uddin urged the workers to remain calm.

Officer-in-charge of Tanore Police Station, Mizanur Rahman, confirmed the matter.

He said that tensions between bus workers and CNG auto-rickshaw drivers had been ongoing. 

He assured that the issue would be addressed, adding that a case had been filed.
