4 reform commissions submit reports to CA

The heads of four reform commissions handed over their reports to the interim government's chief adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus today (January 15).

They submitted the reports at the Chief Adviser's Tejgaon office in the capital at 11 a.m.

Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared the news and highlighted Constitution Reform Commission proposal in a social media post.

The commissions are the Constitution Reform Commission, Election System Reform Commission, Police Reform Commission, and Anti-Corruption Reform Commission.

Following the submission, the Chief Adviser held a meeting with the commission heads to discuss the reports. Key recommendations were summarized during the meeting.

A government briefing to share further details with the media is scheduled for 3:00 PM.

According to the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing, Dr. Yunus plans to hold discussions on the reports with political parties and other stakeholders in the coming days.

The commissions’ proposals include significant changes in power structures and the parliamentary system.

Earlier in the day, the commission chiefs, Professor Dr. Ali Riaz, Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Sarfaraz Hossain, and Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, arrived at the Chief Adviser’s office at 10:30 AM.

Their reports are based on three months of consultations with citizens, political parties, and other stakeholders, with inputs from nearly 100,000 people. International constitutional frameworks were also reviewed.

The Constitution Reform Commission, led by Dr. Ali Riaz and comprising nine members, was formed on October 7 to assess and propose reforms to the existing constitution. The commission has produced a five-volume report, containing comprehensive suggestions for changes across various sectors.
