The government has granted State Minister status to Ashiq Chowdhury, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA).

The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Monday (April 7) confirming the matter.

The notification signed by Cabinet Secretary (in charge) Zaheda Parveen, said that Ashiq Chowdhury will receive the salary, allowances, and other benefits entitled to a State Minister while holding the position. The order takes immediate effect.

Ashiq Chowdhury was appointed as Executive Chairman of BIDA on September 12 last year, as per an order from the Ministry of Public Administration.
