DHAKA: Ayesha Humayara, a young housewife who allegedly disposed of her only child in cahoots with her suitor in the capital’s Adabar area, was Friday remanded for four days to unravel the homicidal plot.

She was arrested Thursday by Adabar police in a case filed by her businessman husband and produced Friday in the CMM court of Mostafa Shajriar Khan. Police sought to take the woman on weeklong remand, but the magistrate gave them four days for questioning her.

Samiul Azam, a 6-year-old schoolboy, had gone missing two days before and was found dead and dumped in a sack in the area on Thursday morning.

Father of the boy AR Azam, a businessman, filed the case accusing his wife and a man named Shamsuzzaman alias Arif, with whom she had a clandestine affair, of killing his son. Humayara was arrested in the case.

There was no lawyer to speak for the accused woman in the court of law—and there was none from her paternal side even to stand by her. She herself tried to plead her case.

Taking permission of the court, Humayara said, “I have some problems but I didn’t kill my son. I was not involved in the killing. I am fighting alone, nobody with me.

“It’s not for me to kill my son,” insisted the woebegone woman—now that her dearest one and romances both lost, somehow.

As per FIR of the case, the Azam–Humayara couple’s only son, Samiul Azim, went missing on June 22 afternoon when he went to play in front of their home.

AR Azam alleged that his wife had illegal relationship with Shamshuzzaman Arif .

“Babul, the security guard of the building, told me that Arif used to come to our flat whenever I was out on business,” said the grief-stricken father, adding that Arif last came to their flat on June 19.
