DHAKA: A new organization of the lawyers dubbed ‘Society for the Rule of Law’ came into being in Dhaka Saturday.

The formation of the body was announced at a news conference held at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity office.

Senior advocate of the Supreme Court M. Shamsul Haq and Advocate Mohammad Hossain declared them as president and General Secretary respectively.

They said the main objectives of the organization are to establish the rule of law and protect people of the country from “repression by the state”.

The Society will also act against all crimes in society, they added.
