A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Railways Minister and ex-MP of Cumilla-11, Mujibul Haque, following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The order was issued by Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib on Thursday (January 9).
ACC Deputy Director (Money Laundering) Md. Masudur Rahman submitted the petition, citing allegations of corruption against Mujibul Haque.
According to the petition, the former minister is accused of misusing his position for financial gain through tender manipulation, recruitment irregularities, and embezzlement in railway development projects. He allegedly amassed significant illegal wealth under his name and that of his family members, both domestically and abroad.
Fearing that Mujibul might leave the country, the ACC argued that the ban was necessary to ensure a fair investigation. Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir represented the ACC during the hearing, after which the court granted the request.
