BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan has said that the party does not currently see the need for a movement to pressure the government into holding an immediate general election.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting today with the 12-party alliance at BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office, Khan expressed hope that an interim government would organize the national polls by December, in line with public expectations.
12-party alliance Chairman Mustafa Zaman Haidar echoed similar sentiments, urging the government to announce a clear roadmap for the upcoming 13th parliamentary election to dispel public confusion.
The alliance also demanded the removal of "fascist elements" from the public administration and justice for those responsible for the alleged genocide during the July-August mass movement.
