Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the BNP, has blamed the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement for stabbing of Zahidul Islam Parvez, a student of Prime Asia University and a Chhatra Dal leader, to death.
At a press conference held Sunday (April 20) at the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan, Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib condemned the killing and alleged it was a premeditated attack carried out by activists linked to the Anti-Discrimination Movement.
Parvez, a textile department student, was attacked in front of the university on Saturday afternoon.
According to Rakib, the incident began with a verbal altercation involving Mehraj Islam, later escalating into violence. Chhatra Dal claims the assailants were led by Shovon Niaz Tushar and Hridoy Niazi, both affiliated with the anti-discrimination student platform.
Chhatra Dal also alleged that the university administration failed to act during the attack and accused the anti-discrimination group of protecting the accused.
Meanwhile, a case has been filed naming five individuals.
Chhatra Dal further claimed that Chhatra League members had been “rehabilitated” under the anti-discrimination banner, warning of growing political violence on campuses.
Parvez’s janaza was held outside the BNP office, followed by a protest march through Naya Paltan.
