BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is set to return home on Monday, May 5, following a medical check-up in London.
BNP Standing Committee Member AZM Zahid Hossain confirmed that her health has improved significantly.
She will return aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight under special arrangements, accompanied by her daughters-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Shamila Rahman Sinthi.
Since January, Khaleda Zia has been in London receiving advanced medical treatment at her son Tarique Rahman’s residence.
She was previously released from prison in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and formally freed after last year's political transition.
The 79-year-old leader has long been suffering from chronic health issues including liver cirrhosis, kidney, and heart complications.
