DHAKA: Supreme Court (SC) asked the lower court to consider Shafik Rehman’s bail in a case for plotting to kidnap and kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The appellate division bench led by chief justice SK Sinha on Thursday (December 8) also directed journalist Shafik Rehman file a bail appeal in the Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Attorney general Mahbubey Alam moved for state while lawyers J Mohammad Ali and M Asaduzzaman on behalf of Shafik Rehman.
Earlier on September 6, Journalist Shafik Rehman has been released on bail granted by SC on August 31, from Kashimpur Central Jail.
On April 16, Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested journalist Shafik Rehman from his Eskaton residence in the capital in the case filed in Paltan Thana in 2015.
