DHAKA: The budget session for this year, which is also the 16th session of the 10th Parliament, will begin on Tuesday (May 30).

The session will begin at 11:00 am. This will be fourth budget session of the current Parliament.

President Moahmmad Abdul Hamid on May 14 convened the session exercising his power bestowed upon him by article 72 (1) of the Constitution.

Earlier, the 15th session of the 10th Parliament ended on May 8.

Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will place the budget proposal for 2017-2018 fiscal in the Parliament on Thursday (June 1).  

This will be the country's 46th budget and the 18th of the Awami League government while the 11th for Muhith.

The finance minister hinted that the size of the new budget could be over Taka 4 lakh crore. It will be largest size of budget in the history of the country.
