DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Authority of Dhaka University (DU) expelled eight students including DU unit Vice-president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the ruling party, over physically assaulting a student. 

Bijoy Ekattor Hall Provost Professor AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan told Banglanews that DU BCL Vice-president Ariful Islam and his followers beat up Ismail Ahmed Mubin, a Master’s student at Anthropology department, in the hall on Thursday night (June 1). 

Later, DU authority expelled the eight attackers after investigating the CCTV footage of the incident.  
 
They are—Ariful Islam, Vice-president of BCL-DU unit and a Master’s student at Linguistics department, Robiul Hasan Rana, a 3rd year student at Accounting and Information System (AIS), Ahsan Habib Sajeeb from Department of Law, Abu Yunus from Department of Islamic Studies, Kazi Tanveer Ahmed, a 2nd year student at Linguistics department, Samchita Breez Pranto from Institute of Education and Research, Ibne Kayes Zia from Department of Marketing and Wahid Anwar Rono from Department of Psychology.     

Provost AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan further said that injured Anthropology student Ismail was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment on Thursday night.
