DHAKA: A Jubo League leader was stabbed dead by a spear thrown by rivals in a clash over land grabbing in Savar’s Jamsingh Teuti area on Sunday noon (June 4).
The deceased was identified as CM Badshah Foysal, son of one Sayeduzzaman, hailed from Imandipur area of Savar.
Before joining Jubo League, the youth wing of ruling Awami League, he was the joint general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Savar upazila unit.
Police said one Dr. Kader was locked in long dispute with another local Felu Mia over establishing supremacy and grabbing a land in the area. On Sunday noon, over hundred of Jubo League cadre led by Foysal, marched to claim the land while rivals attack them on the spot.
Foysal was stabbed by a spear hurled by his rivals during the mayhem that left him critically injured. He was rushed to Enam Medical College where on-duty physician declared him dead around 3:30 pm.
Savar model thana officer-in-charge (OC) SM Kamruzzaman said, following the incident, extreme tension among locals is still prevailing in the area.
A case is being filed over the incident. After proper investigation, legal actions will be taken against the perpetrators, he added.
