DHAKA: Ailing Hefazat-e-Islam chief Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi was shifted to Dhaka from Chittagong by air ambulance, as his physical condition deteriorated on Tuesday (June 06).
An air-ambulance carried Allama Shafi flew to Asgar Ali Hospital in old parts of Dhaka and arrived here in the afternoon. The Hefazat leader has been kept in the ICU of the hospital.
Allama Shafi’s press secretary Maulana Munir Ahmed confirmed the matter to the Banglanews.
He said that Allama Shafi’s son Maulana Yusuf and some other associates and relatives accompanied him in Dhaka.
The Hefazat leaders called the countrymen to pray for early recovery of their chief.
Nearly hundred-year old Allama Shafi has been suffering from respiratory problems. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chittagong city after he fell sick.
Allama Shafi is the rector of Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam, also known as Hathazari Madrasa.
