DHAKA: The Appellate division of Supreme Court upheld the stay order for four months on the bail granted to Tangail-3 Awami League Lawmaker Amanur Rahman Rana, in a case filed over killing Freedom fighter Faruq Ahmed.
The three-member appellate bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed ‘no order’ on Thursday (June 8), in response to the plea of the accused seeking review of the stay order.
Lawyer Rokon Uddin Mahmud moved for Rana at the court on Thursday.
Earlier, on May 8, a full appellate bench led by the chief justice adjourned the hearing upon the plea filed by the state for four months that sought staying the bail for Rana.
Besides, the apex court instructed to dissolve the case within six months.
Therefore lawyers then said that the stay order upon bail was extended for more four months.
