DHAKA: The High Court on Thursday (June 8) adjourned the hearing a writ petition filed by BNP senior leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed challenging legality of eviction drive at his residence in Dhaka’s Gulshan-2.
Earlier, in the noon, the HC bench of Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Hossain and Justice M Ataur Rahman Khan started the hearing.
The HC bench later put a standover in the hearing till July 2.
AJ Mohammad Ali, Mahbub Uddin Rokon and Moudud himself moved for him at the court while Attorney general Mahbubey Alam and Additional attorney general Murad Reza moved for the state at the court.
Earlier, Moudud filed the writ in the morning.
Moudud’s chamber lawyer Barrister Ehsanur Rahman told Banglanews that two interim orders were sought in the writ plea—keeping the design of the home unchanged and instructions to get back the home.
On Thursday, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) sealed-off the house holding no.159 in Dhaka’s Gulshan 2, after completion of 14-hour long eviction drive that began on Wednesday (June 7).
On June 4, the Supreme Court rejected the review petition against earlier verdict asking Moudud Ahmed and his brother to leave their home holding plot no.159 in Gulshan-2.
Besides, on December 17, 2013, Deputy Director of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Harun-or-Rashid filed a case with Gulshan Police Station against Moudud and his brother Manjur on charge of grabbing the house.
