Khaleda unhappy over atmosphere in court

DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been embarrassed over the atmosphere during her appearance before the special court, the makeshift court set up at Bakshibazar in the city.

Speaking at an Iftar party on Thursday (June 08), she said that she stood in the makeshift court for long in the sunshine and heat, but the AC (air cooler) was not functioned. This was done in a planned way, she alleged.

The BNP chief appeared before the court on Thursday to give self-defense statement in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

Khaleda Zia took part in the Iftar party of National Democratic Party (NDP), a partner of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, arranged at the Emmanuelle's Banquet Hall at Gulshan in the city.

NDP chief Khandaker Golam Mortuza presided over the function, while top leaders of the 20-party alliance joined it.

Among them, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, LDP chief Col (retd) Oli Ahmed, Jamaat leader Prof Mujibur Rahman, chairman of Bangladesh Kalyan Party Syed Mohammad Ibrahim Birpratik, Khalefat Majlis leader Sheikh Golam Azgar, acting president of Jatiya Gonotantrik Party (Jagpa) Prof Rehana Prodhan, chairman of Bangladesh NAP Jebel Rahman Ghaani and secretary general of Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Abdul Matin Saud.

Verses were recited from the holy Quran, while a special munazat was also offered before the Iftar.
