DHAKA: Internal conflict between two groups of pro-government Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has resulted in vandalism of several rooms of the hostel of MC College in Sylhet.
The supporters of BCL leader Titoo Chowdhury who are the followers of Sylhet Awami League leader Ranjit group vandalized the rooms in the morning on Thursday (July 13).
They vandalized the doors and windows at several rooms in first, second, fourth, fifth and Srikanto blocks of the hostel. A number of rooms were damaged.
Huge police were deployed in the hostel following the incident. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahporan police station Akhter Hossain confirmed the matter to the Bangalnews.
However, no arrest has been reported in this connection.
Principal of MC College Nitai Chandra Chanda visited the hostel.
Earlier on Wednesday night, the supporters of Ranjit group and Sonjoy Group engaged in clash at Tilagorh point in Sylhet. Later in the morning, the supporters of Ranjit group vandalized the hostel rooms.
Earlier on July 8 in 2012, the BCL men set fire to the college hostel burning down many rooms. Later, the rooms were repaired as per old structure.
