4 BCL men expelled in SUST

SUST, SYLHET: The authorities of the Shajalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet have expelled four activists of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student of the ruling Awami League.

The 205th Syndicate meeting of the university held on Saturday (July 15) took the decision of expulsion of the BCL men on charge of sexual harassment of a schoolgirl and attack on two journalists for protesting the harassment.   

The BCL activists were expelled for one semester. They are Mahmudul Hasan Rudra of Social Work Department, Sajjad Hossain Riad of Statistics Department, Rahat Siddique of Anthropology Department and Suman Sarker Jony of Political Studies Department.  

Besides, Rahat Siddique and Suman Sarker Jony were fined Tk. 1,000.

Earlier on April 8, the BCL men assaulted Sarder Abbas Ali, SUST Correspondent of an English national daily, and Syed Nabiul Alam Dipu, SUST Correspondent of a Bengali daily, as they protested sexual harassment of the schoolgirl.
