DHAKA: BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the Election Commission (EC) has failed to set an example in the last election.
At a press conference in BNP office in city’s Nayapaltan area on Sunday (July 16), Rizvi said the EC failed to manage an exemplary free and fair election under the Awami-led government.
“Misdeed by the ruling party men such as seizing poll centers, looting ballots, mayhem, bloodshed and preventing opposition BNP candidates and supporters to enter the polling stations went along just fine.”
He further said the EC did not enforce the law as much as it was supposed to do. No example was made earlier.
However, we expect a fair election from the EC where common people will be able to go to poll centers to exercise their franchise. This is what we want and we will make further decision after the EC publishes outline or roadmap for the election, he added.
