DHAKA: The ruling Awami League has accepted the electoral roadmap formally unveiled by the Election Commission (EC) for the next Parliamentary elections.
Hours after the roadmap launching ceremony on Sunday (July 16), Awami League senior leader and commerce minister Tofael Ahmed said that the EC’s electoral roadmap is realistic.
“We hope that that the BNP will join the next polls,” he said while talking to journalists at the conference room of commerce ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital city.
The AL leader said that the BNP has been saying for an election-time government system. But the next polls will be held as per the Constitution. “Elections will be held in time. We won’t accept any proposal which contradicts to the Constitution,” he said.
