DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday (July 26) issued arrest warrant against 39 leaders-activists of BNP including Shimul Biswas, Maruf Kamal Khan and Shirin Sultana in a case filed with Paltan police station under the Special Powers Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kamrul Hossain Molla issued the warrant after taking the charge-sheet of the case into cognizance and fixed August 28 for further updates of this matter.

Additional public prosecutor (PP) court of the court Taposh kuman Pal told Banglanews that a total of 53 people are accused in the case. Of them, two are in prison and 12 are on bail.

The case was filed with the Paltan thana under Special Powers Act for creating violence and vandalism in Paltan area on February 3 in 2015, he added.
