BCL leader expelled for assaulting female students

DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has expelled its central committee deputy secretary of Environmental Affairs, Mizanur Rahman Pikul, for breaching party discipline and code of conduct.

BCL issued a notice signed by central committee president and general secretary in this regard on early Monday (Aug 7).

It has been reported that the BCL leader Pikul assaulted two female students of Eden College earlier on Sunday night. Later the victims filed a written complaint at Chawkbazar model police station.

Chawkbazar model police station officer-in-charge (OC) Shamim-ar-Rashid told Banglanews that the assault took place in a local fish market while Pikul shoved victim’s husband in the crowd. At first there was heated conversation between them which then quickly turned into physical assault.

Piklu beat up victim’s husband and also assaulted and used abusive language towards the victim and her younger sister who are both students of Eden College. Later former BCL central committee assistant secretary Rasel Ahmed rescued the injured and provided primary treatment to them, he added.
