Quader meets Chief Justice to clear party stance

DHAKA: Awami League general secretary and also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has met with Chief Justice SK Sinha to brief him about party’s stance on the SC verdict scrapping the 16th amendment to the constitution.

According AL sources, Quader met with Chief Justice around 8:00pm Saturday at CJ’s residence. The meeting took place for around two hours and they took dinner together afterwards.

Seeking anonymity, a policy-making level AL leader told Banglanews that the meeting was arranged to brief Chief Justice about AL’s position and viewpoint on the verdict and its observations.

AL is seeking a review of the verdict and withdrawing some its observations. On Sunday (Aug 13), Awami-led 14-party alliance held a press conference in city demanding the review.
