Jubo League activist hacked to death in Noakhali

NOAKHALI: A Jubo League, youth wing of ruling Awami League, activist was hacked to death by rivals over establishing supremacy in the area at Hatiya island upazila of Noakhali on Wednesday afternoon (August 30). 

The deceased was identified as Riaz Uddin, 30, son of one Kurban Ali of Sonadia union of Hatiya upazila.

Locals said that a dispute between the two groups of ruling Awami League has been going on for long time over establishing supremacy in a local market. Previously, several clashes had broken out between them. 

Following the long dispute, Riaj Uddin was hacked by rivals and severely injured in the market place around 12:30 pm Wednesday. However, he died on the way to Noakhali General Hospital as his conditions deteriorated.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatiya Police Station Abdul Mazid told Banglanews that extra police forces were dispatched to that area. In addition, legal action will be taken in this regard.
