‘Parliamentary polls in Oct next year’

DHAKA: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has said that the Parliamentary polls may be held in October next year.

He made the comment while talking to journalists after exchanging Eid greetings with officials of his ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday (September 04).      

Muhith said that the Election Commission (EC) is wrapping up its activities for holding the next polls. It seems that the next general elections will be held in October next year.   

About Rohingya issue, he said that the Bangladesh government is concerned over the Rohingya crisis. International intervention needs to resolve the crisis, he opined.

The minister sharply criticized Nobel Laureate Aang San Suu Kyi for the genocide and repression on Rohingyas. He said that Aang San Suu Kyi’s role on the issue is shameful and hateful.
