DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government has put a bar on Anti-Liberation quarter to appear as guests in any programs marking the Victory Day on Dec 16.
He made the remark to reporters on Thursday noon (Nov 16) after an inter-ministerial meeting on the overall security measures taken for the upcoming Victory Day.
In a press briefing after the meeting, the minister said, “No one with an anti-liberation background can be chief guest or even guest in Victory Day programs. Previously we have seen such people to appear in different programs as guests. From now on we have decided to keep them out.”
In a query about the identity of the anti-liberation quarter, Home Minister said, “People know very well that who took stand against the liberation war”.
In a separate issue about Rohingyas, he said, “An effort is underway to form a joint working group between Bangladesh and Myanmar for Rohingya repatriation. The joint group led by the Foreign Minister will be formed within Nov 30.”
The minister further said an extensive security measures will be taken to mark the Victory Day programs. No overhead arcades can be built on the roads leading to National Martyrs’ Memorial or Parada Ground. Outdoor programs must end before evening; however, indoor programs can continue with permission.
