DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that they are not intervening in any case of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
“We are not intervening in any case of Khaleda Zia and we (government) won’t also intervene in the cases of the BNP chief in future,” he said on Thursday (November 16).
Obaidul Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said these while speaking at a discussion at the National Press Club in the city, organized by Mahila Awami League, the woman body of the ruling party.
President of the organization Safia Khatun presided over the discussion, while Awami League joint secretary general Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Mahila Awami League general secretary Mahmuda Begum Krik also spoke it, among others.
Obaidul Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, alleged that the BNP chairperson is lying over her cases. The graft cases were filed during the regime of Moyeen Uddin-Fakhruddin, he said.
The AL leader said these in reply to BNP chairperson’s allegation that the conspiracy is being hatched against her over Zia Charitable Trust Graft case and the Zia Orphanage Trust Graft case.
During her self-defense statement before the special court set up in on the premises of Dhaka Alia Madrasah at Bakshi Bazar in the city, the BNP chief expressed her doubt over justice in connection with the two cases.
Obaidul Quader alleged that Khaleda Zia does not believe in law and judiciary.
About Thursday’s party infighting at Azimpur in the city, the AL leader said that the action will be taken against those who violated the party discipline.
