DHAKA: Detectives of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained Akramul Hasan, general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of BNP, in Paltan Friday (November 17).

Chhatra Dal President Rajib Ahsan told Banglanews that Akramul was nabbed while he was returning after attending a program at Jatiya Press Club, at around 12:00pm.

“Our leaders and activists are being detained to obstruct our continuous struggle for restoring democracy. The Chhatra Dal general secretary has been detained, as a part of the same promptness”, said Rajib. 

However, he further said that their movement couldn’t be suppressed by detaining the leaders and activists.  

Paltan Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Nishat Jahan told Banglanews that Akramul has been kept at the custody after detaining him from Paltan Mor, at around 12:00pm.

Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir condemned the detention of the Chhatra Dal leader.
