DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the observation of the Peelkhana massacre verdict lacks accuracy.
Moreover, Fakhrul also put emphasis on finding out the reasons behind the intelligence failure to foresee the BDR mutiny.
The BNP senior leader made the remark while speaking as the chief guest in a meeting titled ‘Special National Council-2017’ of Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA) - a key member of the 20-party alliance.
The program was organized in city’s Engineers Institution of Bangladesh on Tuesday (November 28).
He said that, “Those, who wanted to crumple our national security, benefited from killing 57 army officers in the BDR mutiny. I don’t want to comment on the verdict. However, the observation of the verdict was faulty.”
On a separate issue, BNP secretary general urged the ruling party to hold discussions with them before election as per the constitution.
Also, he asked them to dissolve the parliament, and present a cooperative government who will assist Election Commissions (EC) during polls.
President of JAGPA Prof. Rehana Pradhan presided over the program, while General Secretary Khandaker Lutfar Rahman, National People's Party (NPP) chairman Farid Uddin Farhad, and vice-president of JAGPA Barrister Tasmeya.
