The Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to resume on Saturday after being suspended for a week due to escalating hostilities between India and Pakistan.

The tournament was halted on Friday, but a ceasefire brokered on Saturday paved the way for its resumption.

Originally scheduled to conclude on May 25, the final has now been pushed to June 3, overlapping with England’s white-ball series against West Indies.

A total of 16 remaining fixtures have been rescheduled, along with the abandoned Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match, which was halted due to floodlight failure in Dharamsala.

Six venues—Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai—will host the remainder of the tournament.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed its decision to continue the season following consultations with government and security agencies.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which was initially moved to the UAE, remains postponed indefinitely, though efforts to reschedule its last eight matches are ongoing.

While English and Australian players left India amid the IPL suspension, several other overseas players and teams stayed, including league leaders Gujarat Titans, who continued training.

England’s 10 IPL participants, including eight centrally contracted players, may have to decide individually whether to return for IPL matches or prioritize their national commitments.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is yet to finalize its stance on player participation ahead of England’s series against West Indies, beginning May 29.
