India expresses regret over Bangladesh mission attack

The Indian government has expressed regret over the attack on the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, the capital of Tripura.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, "The breach of the premises at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala earlier today is deeply regrettable. Diplomatic and consular properties must not be targeted under any circumstances."

The MEA also confirmed that steps are being taken to enhance security measures for the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and its Deputy/Assistant High Commissions across the country.

The incident occurred after a protest by a group of Hindu activists, who reportedly attacked the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission. The rally was held to voice concerns over what the demonstrators described as the oppression of Hindus in Bangladesh and the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, a former leader of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

The Indian authorities have assured that measures are being implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.
