Bangladesh has urgently recalled Brigadier General Md. Aftab Hossain, the Defense Attaché at the Bangladesh Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar, following objections from the Myanmar authorities.

A circular issued by the Ministry of Defense on May 13 ordered his immediate return without a replacement, saying that he must handover responsibilities before departure.

The directive also mentions that the expenses for his repatriation will be covered under the 2024-2025 fiscal budget, specifically from allocations for inter-force operations and defense attachés.

Bangladesh authorities have yet to disclose further details regarding the reasons behind Myanmar’s objections.
