A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of the income tax file of former food minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, following a plea from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). 

The order was passed by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib today.

The ACC also filed a separate petition, requesting the court to formally arrest the former minister in connection with the case. 

The court has set January 29 for a hearing on the matter in the presence of the accused.

The ACC alleges that Sadhan amassed illegal wealth amounting to Tk 25.34 crore and conducted suspicious transactions of Tk 43 crore through 65 bank accounts. The case was filed against him on December 19, 2024.

Sadhan was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on October 3 from the capital's Bhatara area. He has already been placed on remand in several related cases.
