A delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is set to meet Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, today (April 16) to discuss the upcoming parliamentary elections.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior leaders of the party will join the meeting at State Guest House Jamuna at 12:00 pm.
Salahuddin Ahmed, a senior member of the BNP standing committee, said that the party would seek a clear and specific roadmap from the government for holding the next parliamentary elections by December.
"We will request the Chief Adviser to present a clear timeline for the elections, ensuring the nation has clarity and the current uncertainty is addressed," he said.
Salahuddin Ahmed also said that the BNP would emphasize that the Election Commission has enough time to complete preparations by June.
"We discussed this with the Election Commission, and they are confident they can finalize all arrangements by then. The chief adviser has previously assured us that efforts are underway to hold elections by December," he added.
Given the confusion surrounding statements from various political parties, the BNP leader also mentioned that the party would urge Professor Yunus to provide clarification on these issues during their meeting.
