A Dhaka court today imposed a travel ban on former Housing and Public Works Minister RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury and his wife, Fahima Khatun, following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order. 

The ACC informed the court that Muktadir allegedly amassed significant assets using political influence and warned of a flight risk if either is granted bail. 

Earlier, on October 31 last year, Muktadir was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police from Mirpur and was placed on remand the following day.
