The Detective Branch (DB) of police today arrested former lawmaker Advocate Shamima Akhter Khanam and ex-assistant press secretary Ashraf Siddiqui Bitu from the city’s Jigatola area.

DB Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the matter.

They were detained in separate noon raids and are accused in multiple cases related to the July uprising, he said.
