BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today (10 May) that the majority of Bangladesh’s population does not want to see the Awami League return to power.
Speaking at a Youth Rally in Chattogram, he said, "18 crore people across the country oppose the Awami League's rule, as they have only oppressed the people since independence."
Fakhrul said that the Awami League for establishing one-party rule after independence and undermining freedom of speech.
He praised BNP founder Martyred President Ziaur Rahman for introducing multi-party democracy and revitalizing the economy.
He also condemned the interim government for failing to restore democracy, warning that fascists could regain control if the situation worsens.
Fakhrul called for unity to safeguard the country’s democracy, sovereignty, and rights.
The rally, organized by BNP and its affiliated bodies, aimed to mobilize young voters and demand political rights for the youth.
