CHITTAGONG: Police, in over night drives, detained seven BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Shibir men from Sitakunda, Satkania and Lohagara upazilas of the district.

District Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Naimul Hasan confirmed the matter to banglanews on Thursday.

Among the detainees, one is BNP, three are Jamaat-e-Islami and three are Shibir leaders and activists.

The law enforcers were conducting the drives across the port city to avert violence during BNP led 20-party alliance’s blockade.
