Mahmudur Rahman indicted

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday framed charges against Bangla daily ‘Amar Desh’ acting editor Mahmudur Rahman and eight others in an arson case.

Dhaka additional metropolitan magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh indicted them after the charge hearing.

The other key accused include Anwaruzzaman alias Anwar Commissioner, 39 no. ward BNP unit president Lutfar Rahman.

State counsel Anisur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Hearing the indictment order, Mahmudur Rahman claimed his innocence.

On March 17 in 2013, miscreants set fire to a passenger bus in front of Farmview Super Market in city’s Farmgate area.

Later, bus driver Anwar Hossian Babu filed a case with Tejgaon Thana in this connection.

On April 20 in 2014, Tejgaon Thana sub inspector (SI) Rajibul Islam submitted chargesheet against nine people, including Mahmudur Rahman.
