BARISAL: Police detained three leaders of Barisal unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday night (January 22).

The detainees were identified as former secretary of Barisal city Jamaat Mizanur Rahman and Jagua union parishad leaders Tofazzal Talukder and Majed Laskar.

Barisal Metropolitan Kotwali Model Thana sub-inspector (SI) Abu Taher told Banglanews they detained the three Jamaat leaders from Panchgao area of Barisal sadar around 9:30 pm on Sunday.

Of the detainees, Mizanur Rahman is an accused in three cases filed under special power act.
