DHAKA: The ruling Awami League will not recommend any name from the party people for the President-prescribed Search Committee in a bid to reform the Election Commission (EC). 

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader made the remark at an accord signing event in city’s Sonargaon Hotel on Wednesday (January 25).

Quader said the search committee is supposed to be neutral with respect to party politics while President Abdul Hamid to give the final decision out of his wisdom and political experience.

At the event, an accord was signed between Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) and Dutch Bangla Bank to start a Rapid Pass Card for all transport system.

Japan ambassador to Bangladesh Masato Watanabe, JICA chief representative Takatoshi Nishikata, Secretary of the Department of Road Transport and Highways MAN Siddique and Dutch Bangla Bank chairman Sayem Ahmed among others were also present at the event.
