DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to appear before the court on Monday (January 30) to place her statement in Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases.
She will appear at third special Judge Abu Ahmed Jomader in Bakshi Bazar area.
Khaleda Zia’s Press Wing officer Shamsuddin Didar said this on Sunday (January 29) adding that the BNP chief will start from her Gulshan residence for the court around 10:00am.
Earlier on Thursday (January 29), the court ordered the BNP chairperson to appear before the court on Monday, otherwise her bail would be cancelled.
On August 8, 2011, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
On the other hand, the ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia, her eldest son Tarique Rahman and four others for misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore which came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
