DHAKA: The by-election of Tangail-4 (Kalihati) will be held on Tuesday (January 31) from 8:00am to 4:00pm uninterruptedly.

Election Commission (EC) secretary Muhammad Abdullah told Banglanews that the authorities have taken overall preparation for the election.

EC Election Management Branch source said 22 joint force members of Police, Ansar and Battalion Ansar will be deployed in every poll center.

Moreover, two platoons of BGB, 15 RAB teams, eight striking forces of Police and Ansar and 15 mobile teams will be in alert till the next of day of election.

Three candidates, Mohammad Hasan Imam Khan Sohel from Bangladesh Awami League, Ataur Rahman Khan from Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF) and Imrul Kayes from National People’s Party, will fight in the election.

A total of 307,770 people will apply their franchise in 107 voting centers.
 
This constituency becomes vacant as MP Latif Siddique resigned after being expelled from AL.
