DHAKA: Voting in the by-elections in chairman post in 14 upazilas of 12 districts and four municipalities in four districts is underway on Monday (March 6).

The upazilas are - Jaldhaka in Nilphamari, Sujanagar and Ishwardi in Pabna, Baraigram in Natore, Hossainpur in Kishoreganj, Banaripara and Gournadi in Barisal, Rangabali in Patualhali, Kalaroa in Satkhira, Morrelganj in Bagerhat, Osmaninagar in Sylhet, Jagannathpur in Sunamganj, Guimara in Khagrachhari and Comilla Adarsha Sadar.

The municipalities are – Sakhipur in Tangail, Galachipa in Patuakhali, Arani in Rajshahi and Sherpur in Bogra.

The voting has begun at 8:00 am and will continue till 4:00 pm.

Candidates from ruling Awami League (AL) and BNP are vying for the chairmen posts in all upazilas, municipality and union parishad by-polls, reports Banglanews correspondents.

Staff and district correspondents of Banglanews report that the election commission has taken enough security measures in this regard.
